Content Designer

UK Wide – 1-2 days per month in an office

£50,000 – £70,000 base salary

SC Clearance eligibility required

We’re looking for experienced Content Designers to join a Creative Design community, working on high-impact UK Government digital services.

In this role, you’ll shape clear, inclusive and user-centred content across complex services, ensuring it meets both user needs and GDS standards. You’ll work as part of multidisciplinary Agile teams, collaborating closely with user researchers, designers, developers and stakeholders to deliver services that genuinely work for people.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing clear, concise, user-centred content from discovery through to live services
  • Creating content for government and public sector services, aligned to the GOV.UK Service Standard
  • Working closely with user researchers and design colleagues to understand and respond to user needs
  • Collaborating with service and interaction designers to ensure content is seamlessly integrated into end-to-end journeys
  • Using data and insight to inform and iterate content decisions
  • Designing accessible and inclusive services across digital and offline channels
  • Participating fully in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning and iterative delivery
  • Engaging confidently with stakeholders to gather requirements, present content solutions and incorporate feedback
  • Developing and maintaining content strategies aligned to user and project goals
  • Representing and defending content design decisions at key assurance and governance stages

Essential

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Content Designer on complex, user-centred design projects
  • Experience designing content for government or public services
  • Strong knowledge of the GOV.UK Service Standard
  • Proven ability to produce clear, user-focused content across channels
  • Experience designing for accessibility and inclusion
  • Strong collaboration skills within multidisciplinary Agile teams

Desirable

  • Experience leading design sessions and facilitating collaboration
  • Prototyping and iterative design experience
  • Understanding of the strategic context of content within services
  • Experience working across other sectors
  • Multi-disciplinary design skillset
  • Active SC clearance
